Every day after elementary school, I would watch HGTV with my grandma and draw blueprints of my dream houses. I was lucky enough to learn hand sewing from her early on and by middle school I went from sewing buttons to making stuffed animals and Halloween costumes.
I became interested in attending conventions and started sewing costumes by hand. At age 13, I would spend every day after school watching tutorials on anything ranging from face painting, to wig styling, to working with craft foam.
In 8th grade, I submitted my portfolio to Grand Center Arts Academy and was accepted into the Visual Arts pathway.
In my freshmen year I would carry my sewing machine up six flights of stairs for an after school art class where I taught myself special effects makeup and made three cosplays during my first semester.
At the start of college, I barely made art and instead focused on my television studies. Taking a Production Design elective made my love of arts and crafts come flooding back.
My background in visual arts has helped me create accurate technical drawings and come up with creative techniques for making props and food styling.
